![]() ![]() I had to copy and paste metadata back into the above JPG (using IMatch 2019) and reload it here to preserve shooting information. Ps - I find Photoshop's deletion of metadata when exporting images annoying. Given that I already have and use qDSLRDashboard with my Android Pixel 2, is there any reason to get Helicon Focus Remote? Are there other options I should be looking at? The Nikon MC-30A Remote Trigger allows for remote firing of a camera with trigger-lock function by keeping the shutter release button depressed (for Bulb shooting). Older DSLR cameras without live view are not supported. Helicon Remote will automatically take control of the camera and you will see the Live View image on the screen. ![]() This will enable Helicon Remote to control the lens. Then switch the camera on and run Helicon Remote or vice versa. USB connection is supported on iOS 13.0 and newer. ![]() See the complete list of supported camera models. Connect your camera to a computer with a USB cable. Helicon Remote is a utility for tethered shooting and camera remote control compatible with all recent Nikon and Canon DSLR cameras. When I went to their website, I saw that that they also offer Remote, a tethered shooting solution. Helicon Remote supports Canon and Nikon DSLR and mirrorless cameras, as well as some of the recent Sony mirrorless models. It was, as expected, somewhat slow with a 49 image NEF stack, and reasonably good despite a few oddities that might have been due to my Z6 stacking settings (probably should have included more 'far' shots that I deleted before further processing and a few closer shots.įrom my reading, it appears that Helicon Focus would be a better tool for macro focus stacking. I used Photoshop CC 2019 for my first test, using minimal user input/control. Given that it's currently 12 F/-11 C here, I decided to shoot indoors (just a test, not a serious composition!). Helicon Remote also doesn't support the Nikon D3000 line of cameras because they lack remote control capabilities. Canon cameras prior to 40D and Nikon cameras prior to D90 do not support these features. It seems very useful despite some learning curve about setting optimal stack parameters. Helicon Remote can only work with cameras that support remote Live View and remote focus control. While the D3 breaks new ground for Nikon with a full-frame sensor (called FX) at 12.1 megapixels, the D300 nearly matches that resolution at the old DX-size recording a 12.3 megapixel image with a 1.5x crop factor. I finally got around to initial testing of focus stacking with my Z6. Both the D3 and D300 are pro-grade cameras, and share many of the same revolutionary features. ![]()
